Our History

Come with us on a journey through time.

The Allmer family's story in hospitality begins in 1920, when great-grandfather “Franz the First” opens a country inn at the Wegscheide in Weiz. Over the decades our house has grown from a simple country inn into a four-star hotel — and its foundation is still the family.

His son Franz takes over, with his second wife Julianna

Franz is sent to the front in Russia.

Julianna runs the inn alone. During the war it becomes a refuge for people of Weiz who have lost their house or their flat.

1972

His son Franz takes over with Maria — and builds anew

The main house is largely torn down and rebuilt: an inn that was modern for its day, with eight guest rooms.

A hall for 450 people follows later.

Drawn by the host himself.

“Our profession is our calling, and together with our team we love making our guests' stay as unforgettable and beautiful as we can. As hosts we are especially proud that our eldest son, Markus Franz, is following the hotelier's path. With him and his two younger sisters, Christina and Julia, the fifth generation is already waiting in the wings for Hotel Allmer.”
